Inspired: Paris Apartment

My life is hectic, unpredictable, and complicated. My home should not be. Decorating a new place has always been an exciting yet daunting task for me. My tastes change, and this makes choosing long-term looks for a residence very difficult. I worked with a designer to focus on aspects I liked: modern, minimalism, airy, intelligent-personality spaces. With those keywords established, we set off to create some very inspired spaces.

The key look centered around: the elements. Stone, wood, metal. For a kitchen, I wanted the most advanced equipment while maintaining an open-light, welcoming space. Woods and the steel provide a clean effect.

The stairs maintained the minimalist theme with lacquered black wood floors and white walls with personality pieces neatly organized along the path. Having lights along the walls were important in giving off a warm glow and would look absolutely radiant at night.

The grand stairs needed to be airy and I loved the detached single wood steps- similarly lacquered black wood. It gives a great view of the downstairs and the paintings add a dab of color and character to the juxtaposition of white and black.

Paris does not have 'normal' showers/bathtubs like America, which gave the perfect opportunity to truly try out something new and quirky, while at once zen-like and modern.

Continuing the theme of minimalist, zen-like decor: white marble, dark wood cabinets, upgraded sinks, with an Orchid for detail.

The closet needed to be open and display my clothing in the best way possible. Granted I haven't filled the closet yet (still have lots of clothes back in New York) but space was definitely a plus so I knew I could work with it. Adequate lighting on the shelves and bench were added touches that provided functionality and a more comfortable experience.

Bedrooms are always difficult with me. Sadly, I have not found a look that will work at the moment. Can anyone offer ideas?
